3.1. Use

By using the thread cutting head ZR 26-I non-cutting external threads with a nominal
diameter of 5 to 26 mm with a maximum flank lead of 2,5 mm can be cut.
The thread length is limited to 80 mm including the thread runout.
Fine threads with a diameter of 27 and 30 mm and a maximum flank lead of 2 mm
can be cut until a thread length of 27 mm including the thread runout.
Left-handed and right-handed threads may be cut. Please note when cutting left-
handed threads to use fitting chasers and the chaser holders. The tool spindle should
be set to anticlockwise rotation.
Conical external threads having a cone infeed can be cut provided that the thread
length including run-out isn't longer than the width of the chasers. As the load of the
tool is quite high this method can be used for fine threads only. Four axial marks can't
be avoided here.

3.2. Mode of operation

The Thread Cutting Head ZR 26-I with internal control is designed for the fast and
effective production of external threads on machine tools with connecting rod.
All required mechanical movements like »closing head«, »opening head« and »fine
adjustment of the diameter« are carried out by the connecting rod.
The suitable adapters for the machine and the coupling for the rod are delivered with
the thread cutting head.
The coolant for internally cooled tools is supplied via the adapter or centrally via the
connecting rod.
