7.3. Insertion and setting of the chasers
When inserting the chasers in the chaser holders please
take note that the installation areas on both sides are
clean and in a good condition.
Don't interfere with the installation areas while thread cut-
ting. It will affect the quality of the threads to be cut and
will render thread cutting impossible.
Since the chaser holders aren't numbered there is no need
yet to pay attention of their order when inserting them.
After you have inserted them, tight the clamp screw slight-
ly. Thus the chaser is slightly clamped, but can be moved
with the setting screw.
The two needles of the flowmeter are set to zero on the
setting gauge.
Please note to choose the right diameter of the
gauge.
Afterwards the setting gauge will be removed and a
chaser holder will be inserted as shown on the figures 15
and 16.
The chaser has to rest on the stop bolt and the holder
has to be adjusted in heighth so that the index bolt co-
mes to stop only on the first cutting sprocket (not on
the guiding presser foot). Now tight the holder with the
clamp screw. The chaser can be set with the setting screw
to the determined value. Afterwards the clamping screws
are tightened. After you have set the whole set of chasers
evenly you can install the chaser holders in the cutting
head.
Should the chasers be shortened after grinding, insert
the shims which come with every set of holders between
chaser and setting screw.
