Presetting of the thread diameter

The approximate diameter of the thread to cut is set by twisting of the excentric ring.
The setting is continuous. However, should the gear segments be inserted as locking
devices of the diameter, please take their regrading into consideration.
The adjustment of the thread diameter resp.the fine adjustment is done by the con-
necting rod. For further information please refer to section 13.
We recommend the following procedural methods:
To preset the thread diameter keep the cutting head closed completely.
Should the cutting head be dismantled, the unit guiding-and excentric ring is brought
manually into the foremost position.
Has the cutting head already been mounted on the machine, the position "Cutting
head closed max." is approached. The thread diameter is set according to a speci-
men thread or a bolt which complies with the minor diameter of the thread.
To set the diameter, unscrew the frontal cylinder head screw [140], insert the match
code [310] with the gearing in the designated bore hole and twist the excentric ring
[110] thus far that the sample part resp. the bolt can be only just turned by hand.
Remove the bolt resp. the sample part and scale the excentric ring again down to 1 to
2 tick marks. One tick mark complies with ca. 0, 1 mm setting of the diameter. This is
necessary for the position "cutting head closed completely" so that the minimum size
of the diameter can be achieved.
Now please tighten the cylinder head screw [140].
Locking feature of the set thread diameters:
As an additional locking against twisting, the matching gear segment [150] from the
ten – part set can be inserted with the shim [160] and tightened.
Please note that with installed gear segment the excentric ring can't be ad-
justed.
When presetting the cutting head, the diameter is set too little intentionally due to
the twisting of the excentric ring. Thus we recommend correcting the position of the
connecting rod accordingly within the area A before cutting the first thread (see chart
00366569 on page 27).
This prevents the chasers from unnecessary load when cutting the first thread.
