Caution:
Do not attempt to remove an AIT data cartridge from the tape
drive without pressing Eject, or you risk damaging the cartridge
and/or drive.
Storing Cartridges Outside the Library
Follow these guidelines to store data cartridges outside the library with the DCM:
•Follow the tape storage suggestions described in Caring for Data Cartridges on
page 67.
•Before using cartridges in the Spectra 2K library, store the cartridges for 24 hours in
the same room as the library; this prevents problems (such as tape seizure) caused
by cold tapes.
Getting Information from the Picker's LED
The picker's light emitting diode (LED), visible through the window of the library,
shines either green or amber indicating the status of the picker. The following table
describes the LED operating modes and what they mean.

Information
Picker is idle and the library is ready for use; this is the normal operating mode.
Picker is active and functioning properly.
Library is not ready for use; verify that the door is shut and that the library is within specifi-
cations.
Failure; for example: to indicate a jam condition, the picker's light blinks amber. Locate the
source of the jam to return the picker to its normal state.
Library configuration switch has been changed since last power-up and the library is
changing its configuration.
