Timer recording
Timer recording is available only for the tuner and external
equipment connected to AUX IN jacks.
Make sure the clock is set correctly.
If necessary, set the auto grouping mode and Auto index mark
register function to ON or OFF. (See page 19.)
1 Hold down SHIFT and press TIMER on the remote
control repeatedly until "TIMER REC" is
displayed, and within 6 seconds, press ENTER.
2 Press f or g to set the timer-on time, and
press ENTER.
•Turning MULTI JOG on the main unit is also available
to set the timer-on time.
3 Press f or g to select a source and a
recording destination for timer recording, and
press ENTER
- "TUlMD" : when recording from a radio broadcast
onto an MD
- "TUlTP" : when recording from a radio broadcast
onto a tape
- "AUl MD" : when recording from equipment
connected to AUX IN jacks onto an MD
- "AUlTP" : when recording from equipment connected
to AUX IN jacks onto a tape
•Turning MULTI JOG, or pressing TUNER/BAND or AUX/
USB on the main unit is also available to select the
source.
4 Press f or g to set the timer-activated
period, and press ENTER.
The timer duration can be set between 5 and 320 minutes
in 5-minute steps.

to set the timer-activated period.
5 When recording onto an MD, press SP/LP
repeatedly to select the recording mode, and
press ENTER.
- "SP" : standard length stereo recording mode
- "LP2" : two times longer stereo recording
- "LP4" : four times longer stereo recording
- "MONO" : monaural recording
6 Press f or g to adjust the volume, and
press ENTER.
The volume can be set between 0 and MAX (31).
7 Prepare the source.
To record from the radio, select the band and tune in a
desired station.
To record from external equipment connected to AUX IN
jacks, set an external timer for the equipment so that its
playback begins at the same time.
8 Insert the recording tape or MD.
9 Press POWER to turn the unit off.
When the timer-on time is reached, the unit turns on and
begins recording with the selected source.
•Timer recording will not begin unless the power is turned
off.
•External equipment connected to AUX IN jacks cannot be
turned on and off by the built-in timer of this unit. Use an
external timer.
•USB source (the personal computer connected to USB
terminal) cannot be selected for timer playback or timer
recording.
To check the specified time and source
Hold down SHIFT and press TIMER on the remote control.
"TIMER PLAY" or "TIMER REC" is displayed for 6
seconds, and then the timer-on time, the selected source and
the timer-activated period are displayed for about 4 seconds.
To change the timer setting
Set the timer again from the beginning.
To cancel timer standby mode
Hold down SHIFT and press TIMER on the remote control
repeatedly until "TIMER OFF" is displayed.
Sleep timer
The unit can be turned off automatically at a specified time.
1 Hold down SHIFT and press SLEEP on the remote
control.
On the main unit, press JOG MODE repeatedly until
"SLEEP" is displayed.
2 Within 6 seconds, press f or g to set the
sleep timer duration.
The sleep timer duration can be set between 5 and 320
minutes in 5-minute steps.
•Turning MULTI JOG on the main unit is also available
to set the sleep timer duration.
To check the remaining time until the unit turns off
Hold down SHIFT and press SLEEP on the remote control, or
press JOG MODE on the main unit repeatedly until "SLEEP"
is displayed.
The remaining time is displayed for about 6 seconds.
To cancel the sleep timer
Hold down SHIFT and press SLEEP twice on the remote control
so that "SLEEP OFF" is displayed.
On the main unit, press JOG MODE repeatedly until "SLEEP"
is displayed, and then turn MULTI JOG or press f or g
within 6 seconds so that "SLEEP OFF" is displayed.
