Important Notes on Handling and Use Printer • This machine is a precision device. ¾ Never subject the machine to impacts or excessive force. ¾ Never needlessly put your hand or fingers inside the cover, the ink-cartridge ports, or other internal areas of the machine.
• Ink cartridges come in various types. ¾ Use a type that is compatible with the printer. Also, be sure to use only genuine items from Roland DG Corporation. • Never subject to impact or attempt to disassemble. ¾ Never drop the ink cartridges or shake them forcefully. The impact may rupture the internal pouch and cause the ink to leak.

Cleaning the Machine Cleaning the Machine on a Daily Basis As part of daily cleaning, wipe away any buildup of ink or grime that has adhered to the machine. In particular, the flat table is likely to have a buildup of grime. Clean by wiping with a cloth moistened by neutral detergent diluted with water then wrung dry.

Cleaning the Machine Clean the locations shown in the following figure. Carriage fan and the surface of the print-head carriage Frequently clean the inside of the machine using a vacuum cleaner or by wiping with a cloth moistened with water then wrung dry. Disposing of Discharged Fluid IM P O R TAN T Tilting the drain bottle too much may lead to discharged fluid spilling out. Slide the drain bottle while ensuring that it stays on the bottom plate. Wipe away any discharged fluid that has dripped onto the outside of the drain bottle. Quickly attach the drain bottle to the machine once more.
Disposing of Discharged Fluid 4 Check that the drain bottle has been pushed all the way to the back and does not move. If the drain bottle is not in the correct position, the drain hose will be misaligned, which may lead to discharged fluid spilling out.

Disposing of Discharged Fluid Wipe away any discharged fluid that has dripped onto the outside of the drain bottle. Quickly attach the drain bottle to the machine once more. 1 Set the drain bottle in place, and then push down on the opening of the bottle. 2 While pushing down on the opening, slide the bottle to the back, ensuring that the bottle stays on the bottom plate.

Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Maintenance of Ink Cartridges The precipitation of the ingredients in the ink disables printing in normal color. So that the ink mixes well, shake the ink cartridge horizontally with a stroke length of around 5 cm (2 in.) from each end of the ink cartridge.
Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily Printing Tests and Normal Cleaning • Be sure to perform a printing test before daily operations to check whether normal cleaning is necessary. • If dot drop-out or dot displacement is present after refreshing the heads and performing a printing test, perform normal cleaning.

Set the base printing position (home position) at the front right of the print area. This method is appropriate when the print site is level, and you can clearly specify the print area.

Maintenance That Must Be Performed Daily When the following screen is displayed, apply head refreshing cleaning liquid to the head cleaning sheet. APPLY CL-LIQUID START REFRESH P o i n t • As a guideline, apply two drops (A) or three drops (B) of cleaning liquid to a single cleaning pad. Apply cleaning liquid as shown in the following figure, using the holes in the sheet retaining cover (a total of 16 holes) as guidelines for the positions where to apply the liquid.

• Cleaning pads cannot be used if they are severely deformed (warped or tilted) or are coming free of the unit. Replace the cleaning pad unit. For information on replacement, contact your authorized Roland DG Corporation dealer. Remove the head refresher.
When Normal Cleaning Is Not Effective Medium Cleaning Method The print heads are important components that discharge ink. They require periodic and appropriate maintenance. When problems such as dot drop-out are not resolved by normal cleaning, perform the more forceful "medium cleaning" to remove clogging from the print heads. I MP O RTANT Medium cleaning consumes more ink than normal cleaning, and overly frequent use may damage the print heads themselves.

Cleaning That Must Be Performed Once a Month or More Wet a cloth with anhydrous ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and then wipe off the base and irradiation surface of each UV-LED device with this cloth. Wipe the cloth across each UV lamp for approximately 10 round trips until all the dirt is cleared away.
Reducing Paper Used during Printing Tests Performing Printing Tests Arranged Horizontally When performing printing tests successively, you can select "FEED" (vertical printing) or "SCAN" (horizontal printing) as the print position for the 2nd and later tests in comparison to the 1st test.
