Does the jam occur when the paper is
picked up from the cassette?
Is the cassette set in the machine
properly?
Try a different cassette. Is the problem
corrected?
Is the copy paper curled or wavy?
Try Canon-recommended paper. Is
the problem corrected?
Does the pick-up roller of the selected
cassette holder rotate during copying
operation?
Is the pick-up roller deformed or worn?
Does the main motor start to rotate
when paper is fed manually?
Does the registration roller operate
normally?
Is the registration roller or the vertical
roller deformed or worn?
Try recommended paper. Is the
problem corrected?
Yes/No Remedy
NO Go to step 8.
NO Set the cassette.
YES Check the inside of the
cassette for foreign matter.
YES Replace the copy paper.
Advise the user on the
correct method of storing
copy paper.
YES Advise the user to use
recommended paper.
NO See "Pick-up operation fails."
YES Replace the pick-up roller.
NO See "Pick-up operation fails."
NO See "The registration roller
fails to rotate."
YES Replace the roller which is
deformed or worn.
YES Advise the user to use
recommended paper.
NO Check the pick-up roller for
wear and deformation.
