Does the 'ADD PAPER' message
remain on?
Is the right door firmly closed?
Does the lifter lower when the deck is
slide out from the pedestal?
Further, does the lifter rise when the
deck is slid into the pedestal?
Does the deck pick-up roller rotate?
Is the belt that transmits the drive to
the pick-up roller properly attached?
Is the drive from the pedestal motor
transmitted to the pick-up assembly by
the drive belt and gear?
Set the meter to the 30VDC range.
Does the voltage between J113-4 (+)
and GND on the pedestal controller
PCB change from +12 to 0V when the
COPY START key is pressed?
Yes/No
Remedy
YES
See "The 'ADD PAPER'
message fails to turn off."
NO
Close the door firmly.
NO
See "The deck lifter fails to
rise."
YES
If the roller is soiled, clean it
with alcohol; if deformation
by wear is noted, replace it.
NO
Attach the belt properly.
NO
Check the drive belt and
gear.
NO
Replace the pedestal control-
ler PCB.
YES
Check the wiring to the deck
pick-up clutch (CL1); if
normal, replace the clutch.
