3: Configuring AirLink GX450 Gateways

This chapter shows you how to communicate with and configure the Sierra Wireless
AirLink GX450 gateway.

Connection Ports

You can connect to the gateway's:
USB port (Micro AB)
Ethernet port (RJ-45)
Serial port (9-pin RS-232)
USB Port
The USB port can be either a Virtual Ethernet port or a Virtual serial port.
Drivers must be installed on the PC for it to work in either mode. The drivers are available
for download on Sierra Wireless' support web site:
source.sierrawireless.com/resources/airlink/software_downloads/airlink_usb_driver/
We recommend that you use a USB 2.0 cable connected directly to your computer for
best throughput.

Configuring with ACEmanager

After the initial power up:
1. On the laptop connected to the gateway, open a web browser.
2. In the browser's address bar, enter http://192.168.13.31:9191
Note: It may take a minute or two for the gateway to respond after the first power up.
The ACEmanager login screen appears.
3. The default user name, user, is already entered. Enter the default password, 12345.
For devices with unique default passwords, enter the password printed on the label on
the base of the unit.
Note: For system security, ensure that you change the default password as soon as possible.
