9.1 Troubleshooting for Multi-line 2 and Uni-line products

9.1.1 Remedy of problem

The troubleshooting table can be used for the Uni-line and the Multi-line 2 products.
Problem indication
Load sharing or fixed power control (base
load) unstable.
Synchronisation OK.
Single generator running frequency control
OK.
Load sharing or fixed power voltage (VAr)
control unstable.
Synchronisation OK.
Single generator running frequency control

Generator not able to take load to 100%.
Generator not able to take load to 100%.
Speed decreases when increase was ex-
pected (relay outputs).
Speed decreases when increase was ex-
pected (analogue output).
Engine overspeeds when starting up.

Problem cause
No speed droop on gener-
ators.
No voltage droop on gen-
erators.
Initial setting of speed gov-
ernor not correct.
Analogue output from DE-
IF equipment has too low
output range.
Relay outputs "up" and
"down" reversed.

Regulator output is too

Troubleshooting
Remedy
Apply 3-4% speed drop on
prime mover governor.
Apply 3-4% voltage drop on
generator AVR.
See chapters regarding gover-
nor/AVR checks.
Increase the full scale value.
This is mostly a case when us-
ing electronic potentiometers.
Swap connections.
Swap connections.
Decrease the analogue output
signal by decreasing the resis-
tor.
