Sending methods

There are two methods of sending faxes:

• Sending from your machine (memory sending)

• Sending from your computer (See Software Guide.)
This section explains how to use these methods.
Sending from your machine (memory sending)
Follow this procedure:

Load the document on the platen glass.
NOTE
• For details on how to load documents, see page 32.

Press [FAX].

Adjust the settings for your document as necessary.
NOTE
• To select the image quality (fax resolution), see page 97.
• To select the scan contrast, see page 97.

Dial the recipient's number using the numeric keys or directory dialing.
NOTE
• For details on how to use directory dialing, see page 99.

Press [Color] for color sending, or [Black] for black & white sending.
• The LCD displays the following message when the first document is scanned.
NEXT PAGE
END SCANNING:OK
IMPORTANT
• Color sending is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.

For a multipage document, load the next page and press [Color] or [Black].
IMPORTANT
• If you do not press the same key you pressed in step 5, the machine does not start scanning.

Press [OK] to start sending.
NOTE
• To cancel sending before sending a fax, press [Stop/Reset].
• To cancel memory sending while sending a fax, follow any instructions on the LCD after
pressing [Stop/Reset].

Sending faxes from your computer

With your machine connected to your computer, you can send faxes from the computer. For details,
see Software Guide.
