Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:

Prepare the computer for disassembly

Remove the bottom cover (see

Remove the heat sink on models with discrete graphics::
NOTE:
The heat sink can be removed without removing the system board.
1.
Remove the conductive tape from the memory cover and the top of the heat sink (1). You do not have to
remove the tape from both covers to remove the heat sink.
2.
Remove the six Phillips M2.0 × 3.0 screws (2) that secure the heat sink, and then remove the heat sink
from the system board (3).
