Muting Your Microphones

If you want to speak privately to someone at your site during your
videoconference, you can mute your microphones so that people at the other site
canÕt hear what youÕre saying.
To mute your microphones:
Press MUTE.
The mute icon appears on your screen.
When you Þnish your private conversation, press
sending sound to the far-end site.
For ideas on how to use muting more effectively, see ÒTips for MutingÓ on page 9.

Adjusting the Volume

If the sound you hear from the far-end site is either too faint or too loud, you can
adjust it by using the
To increase or decrease the volume:
Press VOLUME on your keypad until the sound you hear is acceptable.
We recommend that you do not use the volume buttons on your
F.Y.I.
F Y I
monitor to adjust the sound because this may interfere with your
ability to adjust the volume with the keypad. In general, leave the
volume level on the monitor set to about the middle position.
The
button doesnÕt control the volume for your systemÕs sound effects,
VOLUME
such as the ring, dial tone, and error beep. Your system administrator can set the
volume of these through the system conÞguration menus, as explained in the
Venue
2000 AdministratorÕs Guide.
