1.1.4 Basic rules for addressing

Addressing depends on:
the CP master used
the field bus protocol used
The following rules apply:
Addressing is carried out in ascending order beginning on
the CP master.
In the case of CP masters without extended functions,
each CP module occupies 16 inputs or 16 outputs,
irrespective of the design.
In the case of CP masters with extended functions, the
following difference applies:
Modules without extended functions usually occupy
16 inputs or 16 outputs
Depending on the type, modules with extended func
tions occupy 8 or 16 inputs or 8 outputs
