Chapter 2 Configuring and Upgrading the System
16. Secure the heat sink with four screws.
17. Install the air duct according to Chapter 2 (5.5.1 Installing DIMM).
18. See Chapter 2 (5.4.2 Installing CPU/IO Module) and install the CPU/IO module.
19. Connect the power cords.
20. Press the POWER switch to power on the server.
21. Verify that POST displays no error message.
If POST displays an error message, write it down and see the POST error message list in Chapter 1 (6.2
POST Error Messages).

5.6.2 Removing CPU

Remove the heat sink and CPU in the reverse procedure of installation.

If you install additional CPU, ensure that the fins of the additional CPU's heat sink
are in the same direction as those of the standard CPU.

Tentatively secure the screws diagonally with the order as shown in the figure
below, check that the heat sink is attached to the CPU socket in parallel, then tighten
the screws diagonally.
