PROBLEM
Communications Problems:
7845CZ will not transmit a message
to the Cellular network. Red radio
status LED blinking after each
transmission attempt, rapid-blinks
constantly, or on all the time.
7845CZ does not come out of
carrier search mode.
•
Intermittent failure to supervise
alarms (com-fails) received,
followed by an eventual restore.
•
Intermittent radio fault
indications.
•
Failure to supervise alarm with
no restores.
•
Radio fault with no restore.
PROBABLE CAUSE
•
Poor cellular coverage.
•
Antenna improperly installed.
•
Antenna located near metallic
object, steel studs, wire lath
plaster walls, etc.
•
Installation site unsuitable for
indoor antenna.
•
Current limit = Y with a low or
no battery.
Poor cellular coverage, antenna
installation or location.
•
Installation site has obstructions
that come and go, such as steel
rollup security gates and large
trucks parked close to the
antenna over night.
•
If this is a one-time event, and
the 7845CZ is installed in an
area where it only sees one
Cell site, the site could have
been down for maintenance.
•
7845CZ has failed or lost
power.
•
Radio coverage has faded due
to poor initial installation, or
new obstructions at the
installation.
Section 9: Troubleshooting
SOLUTION
It's all about coverage
•
Recheck installation per the
"selecting a radio installation
site" paragraph in Section 4 .
Move the 7845CZ until RSSI
level and transmission success
rates are acceptable.
•
Check that the antenna has
been properly installed, and
that the connector is not
damaged.
•
Move 7845CZ away from
interfering object.
•
Use 7825-OC antenna kit to
mount the antenna outside.
•
Connect a fully charged battery
to the 7845CZ.
See startup Problems section.
•
Recheck installation procedure
in the "Selecting a Radio
Installation Site" paragraph in
Section 4 . Move the 7845CZ
until RSSI level and
transmission success rates are
acceptable. Check antenna and
power connections.
•
Check the installation site for
obstructions, and move the
7845CZ to deal with them. Site
testing should be done in the
worst-case configuration (i.e.,
rollup gate or garage door
down, etc.).
•
Nothing can be done for this
problem, and although rare, It
can happen.
•
Check 7845CZ for proper
operation and that power
source is functioning.
•
Check the installation site for
obstructions, and move the
7845CZ to deal with them. Site
testing should be done in the
worst-case configuration (i.e.,
rollup gate or garage door
down, etc.).
