You will need the following information to enter into the PowerProtect X400 Appliance
Configuration UI fields:
Management IP - for example, 10.241.247.201.
l
You will use this IP address to log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager UI as the
admin user after you complete the initial configuration of the X400 Appliance in
the PowerProtect X400 Appliance Configuration UI as the root user.
By default, PowerProtect X400 automatically resolves the hostname from a
reverse DNS lookup. If the hostname is not automatically resolved from a reverse
DNS lookup, you can separately specify a hostname and domain name in the UI by
specifying the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) in the Management FQDN
field.
PowerProtect X400 performs a reverse DNS lookup for the Management IP once
the external network is configured. The software does not perform a forward/
reverse DNS lookup for the other external network IP addresses.
IP range or list - for example 10.241.247.202 to 10.241.247.208.
l
Identify unassigned IP addresses for the external network. To simplify
configuration, contiguous addresses are preferred, but not required. The IP
addresses should be reserved for the X400 Appliance. No other systems should be
using these IP addresses. You should use forward/reverse DNS lookup to keep
track of traffic on your network, although it will only be required for the
Management IP.
The first IP address in this range/list is assigned to the internal Appliance Manager
Service. The remaining IP addresses in the IP range/list are assigned dynamically
to internal X400 services, including:
Integrated Storage
n
Integrated Storage Metadata Service
n
Integrated Storage Data Service
n
Virtualization Protection Service
n
Subnet - for example 255.255.254.0
