Diagnostic Aids

Print Test (Main Menu)

You can run the print test even if the printer is not attached to a
computer. Use this test to check print and graphics quality. Running the
print test resets temporary settings to the printer default settings and
deletes all macros and down-loaded fonts.
To run the Print Test:
1. Turn the printer on.
2. Select [SETUP].
3. Select [TEST PAGE].
4. Select either [YES] or [NO].
The printer returns to the default settings after the test page prints.

Diagnostics Mode

To run several of the printer diagnostic tests described in this chapter,
you must put the printer in Diagnostics mode.
To enter Diagnostics mode:
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold the READY and RETURN buttons, then turn the
printer on. The printer performs the Power-On Self Test.
3. Release the buttons when Performing Self Test appears on the
display.
To exit Diagnostic mode:
1. Select [PRINTER RESET].
2. Select [Yes] to return to the normal print mode.

Developed Image Test

This test allows you to examine the image on the photoconductor and
may be used to diagnose print quality problems. You may need to do
this procedure several times to get the timing correct.
To run the Developed Image Test:
1. Enter Diagnostics mode.
2. Run Print Test 1.
3. Turn the printer off while it is printing.
4. Remove the print cartridge and look at the image on the
photoconductor.
