Your Ethernet adapter is not installed properly. To install your Ethernet
adapter, open the Network control panel by selecting Settings»Control
Panel from the Start menu and double-clicking on Network. Your
Ethernet adapter should appear in the list of installed components. If it does
not appear, reinstall the software that came with your Ethernet adapter. If
you do not have this software, contact the Ethernet adapter manufacturer.
Your Ethernet adapter is installed, but TCP/IP protocol is not. TCP/IP is the
network protocol used to communicate over Ethernet to the FP-1600. Open
the Network control panel by selecting Settings»Control Panel from the
Start menu and double-clicking on Network. TCP/IP should appear in the
list of installed network components. If it does not appear, select Protocol
from the Network Component Type dialog box and click on Add. In the
Select Network Protocol dialog box that appears, select Microsoft as the
manufacturer and TCP/IP from the Network protocol list. Click on OK.
You may need the Microsoft Windows NT/98/95 disks or CD-ROM that
came with your computer, and you may have to restart your computer after
closing the Network control panel.
Confirm that there is power to the module, and that both the FP-1600 and
the computer are properly connected the Ethernet network. The FP-1600
Power and Link LED indicators should be lit. When you click on Browse,
the Tx and Rx LEDs on the FP-1600 should flash to indicate that
communications are taking place.
Certain network devices, such as switches and routers, may filter out the
directed UDP broadcast packets which FieldPoint Explorer uses to
communicate with unconfigured FP-1600s, even if they are on the same
subnet as the computer running FieldPoint Explorer. You can test this by
connecting the computer running FieldPoint Explorer and the FP-1600
directly to a simple Ethernet hub. If the FP-1600 appears in the Network
Devices window using this configuration, but not when connected to the
larger network, it is likely that there is a problem of this type. Consult your
network administrator.
The module may have been configured on another network and then moved
to the current network. Refer to Appendix A,
instructions on resetting the FP-1600.
