Data Conference Using
Dual Stream Box
This chapter shows you how to use the optional ViewPoint
8050-DSB Dual Stream Box to incorporate the screen display
data of a computer or similar into a videoconference.
The optional ViewPoint 8050-DSB Dual Stream Box is
designed for internal installation in the ViewPoint 8050. It
allows sending the pictures or text data displayed on a
computer connected to the ViewPoint 8050 to the remote
party in a videoconference. You can also connect a projector
to the Dual Stream Box and display a high-resolution
computer screen image sent by the remote party at the local
site.
Even if no Dual Stream Box is installed or if another
videoconferencing system is used, the receiving party can
view the computer images sent from the other party.
However, the quality of the picture received will vary
depending on the components of the system. If the Dual
Stream Box is installed, a higher frame rate (number of
frames per second) is possible, which allows viewing high-
resolution moving images from a computer. To display the
computer images sent from the other party during PC
mode, press the
(Videoconference) button on the
system and switch to videoconference mode.
For details on picture quality depending on the system
configuration, see "Picture quality of the Dual Stream
Box" on page 79.
For details on RGB signal input/output specifications, see
the section "Acceptable RGB Input/Output Signals" on
page 111.
Note
If the position of the received computer image is off center,
switch to PC mode and switch back to videoconference
mode to correct the positioning.
Restrictions on the IP address of the system
when using the Dual Stream Box
The IP address available for the ViewPoint 8050
Videoconferencing Terminal is restricted when you use
the ViewPoint 8050-DSB Dual Stream Box. Moreover, a
network for communication between the Dual Stream Box
Chapter
and the ViewPoint 8050 should be set up to be a separate
segment.
As a result, unusable IP address is the value obtained from
the AND operation with the address of the Dual Stream
Box for communication and the network mask.
(Unusable IP address for the ViewPoint 8050) = (IP
address of the ViewPoint 8050-DSB) & (Network mask)
The IP address of the ViewPoint 8050-DSB is fixed at
"192.254.1.2". If the Network mask is assumed to be
"255.255.0.0", an unusable IP address is as follows:
192.254.m.n (0 ≤ m ≤ 255, 0 ≤ n ≤ 255)
Note on the camera picture when using the Dual
Stream Box
When transmitting a signal via the Dual Stream Box, the
camera picture quality will be lower owing to the
decreased number of frames.
