Chapter 5: Configuring the G250

The G250 requires software configuration. The G250 can be configured using:
The Avaya Installation Wizard (Avaya IW). Avaya IW is a wizard that prompts you for all
configurations required to complete the installation of the G250. Avaya IW is used only to
configure a G250 with an S8300. Refer to
Wizard (Avaya IW)
The Gateway Installation Wizard (GIW). The GIW is a wizard that prompts you for all
configurations required to complete the installation of the G250. You can run GIW to
configure a G250 without an S8300. Refer to

The Avaya G250 Command Line Interface. The CLI is a comprehensive tool for
configuring the gateway and includes all supported configuration tasks. For information
about configuration using the CLI, see Administration for the Avaya G250 and Avaya G350
Media Gateways, 03-300436. For detailed information on CLI commands, refer to the
Avaya G250 and Avaya G350 CLI Reference, 03-300437.
The G250 can be accessed:
At the customer site via a laptop connected to the of the G250.
From a remote location via a modem. For information about connecting and enabling a
modem, refer to
page 49.
Remotely through the network. For information about preparing a newly installed G250 for
configuration via the network, refer to

Configuring basic gateway connectivity

You can run an installation script on a newly installed gateway to configure the basic network
parameters required to achieve network connectivity. A remote technician can then further
configure the gateway as required. Note that the installation script does not require running any
CLI command.
Note:
The installation script is supported from branch gateway firmware version 29.22.x.
