DRIVEABILITY - GAS
Symptom:
P1493-AMBIENT/BATT TEMP SEN VOLTS TOO LOW
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P1493-AMBIENT/BATT TEMP SEN VOLTS TOO LOW
When Monitored: The ignition key on.
Set Condition: Ambient Temperture Sensor is less than .098 volt at the PCM for 5
seconds.
(K25) AAT SENSOR VOLTAGE BELOW 0.3 VOLTS
AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INTERNAL FAILURE
(K25) AAT SENSOR SIGNAL SHORTED TO GROUND
(K25) AAT SENSOR SIGNAL SHORTED TO (K4) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
PCM TERMINAL CONDITION
PCM
TEST

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the Ambient Temperature Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage below 0.3 volt?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION symptom in the

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read Ambient Temperature Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage above 1.0 volt?
Yes → Replace the Ambient Temperature Sensor.
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Ambient Temperature Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K25) AAT Sensor Signal circuit in the Ambient
Temperature Sensor harness connector to chassis ground.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes → Repair the short to ground in the (K25) AAT Sensor Signal circuit.
→ Go To 4
No

Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5.
