Clearance:
l
Top: It is recommended to have 25.4 cm (10 in) above the instrument to remove the top cover for servicing.
l
Note: The instrument can be installed with a minimum of 2.5 cm (1 in) if there is sufficient space to lift the
top and slide it all the way forward. Talk to your Labcyte service representative for additional details.
Front: It is recommended to have 40.6 cm (16 in) to allow sufficient clearance to load and unload microplates by
l
hand or by robot.
Side: It is recommended to have 121.9 cm (48 in) minimum on left and right sides to allow for serviceability. The Echo
l
Liquid Handler should have sufficient space to be rotated, otherwise it will need to be removable for service.
Rear: It is recommended to have 30.5 cm (12 in) minimum behind the instrument to allow for cables, hoses, tubing,
l
and maintenance access.
Note: Additional space for the client PC, coupling fluid chiller (if it is on the work surface), any robotics in the
system, and microplates must also be considered. The coupling fluid bottle and caddy fit within the rear
clearance.
Environmental
Operating environment:
l
Temperature, operating: 21°C ± 5°C (70°F± 9°F)
l
Relative humidity: 10-80%, non-condensing
l
Compressed air source:
l
Clean, filtered, oil-free, dry air at 552 kPa (80 PSI) minimum, 1034 kPa (150 PSI) maximum
l
Maximum consumption by Echo Liquid Handler does not exceed 1 cfm at 150 PSI
l
Vacuum source (2 options):
l
Vacuum returns the coupling fluid to the supply bottle and dries source plates before they are unloaded. Customer must
provide a fitting that connects 3/8 in ID, 5/8 in OD tubing to either house vacuum or vacuum pump. The supplied vacuum
line is HercoBraid, 9.5 mm (3/8 in) ID, 9.5 mm (5/8 in) OD (RyanHerco P/N 0512-072).
Vacuum source should have the following specifications:
House supply: Minimum 200 Torr (266 mbar, 22 in Hg Vac) minimum pumping speed 8.0 m
l
Standalone vacuum with surge tank (10 L): 100 Torr (133 mbar, 26 in Hg Vac), minimum pumping speed 2.0 m
l
Note: A standalone Vacuubrand MZ 2S-NT vacuum system can be purchased from Labcyte (Part #001-
8104). For more information, see the
Note: The 10 L surge tank comes standard with the Echo Liquid Handler to ensure consistent vacuum.
