When an error occurs, the ALARM Indicator lights and an error message is
displayed on the printer LCD.
Message
MECHA TROUBLE
REMOVE PAPER PRESS [>] KEY
END OF RIBBON
RESERVED
PLEASE WAIT HEAD IN COOLING The thermal head is overheated.
PLEASE WAIT HEAD IN HEATING The thermal head is too cold.
MEDIA MISMATCH
NO IMAGE
NO PAPER
CHECK RIBBON
SET RIBBON HOLDER
CLOSE COVER
Description and Remedy
An internal problem has occurred.
→Do a mechanical reset (Page 42).
If the "MECHA TROUBLE" message remains, turn the printer
off and contact your nearest Sony Service Center.
Paper has jammed.
→Remove the jammed paper, and press
The ribbon at its end.
→Install a new ribbon.
The printer is not available to receive data.
→Wait until it becomes available.
→Wait until this message clears. It can appear during
continuous printing, causing printing to stop until the heat
dissipates, at which time printing automatically resumes.
→Wait until this message clears. When the head warms up, the
message clears and printing starts.
The type of ribbon and the type and size of paper installed are
incompatible.
→Change the type of ribbon or paper.
The REPRINT function has been invoked with no print data
loaded into memory.
→Printing cannot proceed without first loading print data.
There is no paper, or the paper tray is not inserted properly.
→Load paper, or insert the paper tray properly.
A problem has occurred with the ribbon.
→Confirm that the ribbon is not broken, and that the ribbon and
ribbon holder are properly installed.
The ribbon holder is not set properly.
→Re-set the ribbon holder.
The top or front cover is not closed.
→Close the cover.
