Error/Warning Messages

The following error messages and warning messages may be displayed on the video monitor or printer
window display. Note the messages and act accordingly.

Error messages

If a problem occurs, the ALARM lamp lights in orange and an error message appears on the monitor video
and printer window display.

Possible causes and remedies
• Paper has jammed inside the printer.
Remove any jammed paper from the printer. (page 86) In some cases, this message may
remain even after the jammed paper is removed. To clear the message, try removing the
paper feed tray and reinserting it with paper loaded inside.
• The base plate of the printer is detached.
Attach the base plate securely. (page 87)
The paper jams near the paper tray.
Remove any jammed paper from the printer. (page 86) In some cases, this message may

paper feed tray and reinserting it with paper loaded inside.
• The ink ribbon has torn.
Repair the torn ink ribbon. (page 19)
• If this message appears even though the ink ribbon is not torn, contact your Sony service
facility or your Sony dealer.
The maximum number of printouts has accumulated on the paper tray.
Remove the printouts. Once removed, printing will resume automatically.
The ribbon door panel is open.
Close the ribbon door panel.
Neither ink ribbons or paper are loaded.
Load the ink ribbon and paper. (See pages 18 and page 20.)
There is no ink ribbon loaded.
Load the ink ribbon. (page 18)
• There is no paper.
Load the paper. (page 20)
• There is no paper tray loaded.
Install the paper tray. (page 20)
The ink ribbon has been exhausted.
Replace the old ink ribbon with a new one. (The ink ribbon cannot be reused.) If a blank
paper is ejected, do not reuse it. (page 18)
The ink ribbon and paper are mismatched.
Use ink ribbons with paper from the same printing pack. (page 18) Do not reuse the ejected
paper.
The thermal head is malfunctioning.
Turn the printer off, and then on again. If the error message persists, consult your Sony
service facility or your Sony dealer.
The internal temperature of the printer is abnormal.
Turn the printer off, and then on again. If the error message persists, consult your Sony
service facility or your Sony dealer.
A malfunction occurred with the printer's internal fan.
Turn the printer off, and then on again. If the error message persists, consult your Sony
service facility or your Sony dealer.
