Removal and Replacement of Source NDP Components

Separator Tire and Holder

The separator tire and holder are located near the end of the feeder bay under
the separator cover. The separator tire holder has a blue, triangular top that
extends above the separator cover. Refer to Figure 1-2.
The separator tire is mounted on a holder with three sides. Maintenance
involves the following tasks:
Rotate the tire to a new side at about every 80,000 documents or
when occurrences of double-document feeds noticeably increase.
Replace the separator tire at the end of its expected life. Normal
expected tire life is 250,000 documents.
Replacement kits with nudge, feed, and separator tires only are available from
Unisys Direct (item number 75-0306-904). Unisys Direct also has replacement
kits with tires mounted and ready to install (item number 75-0307-902).

Rotating the Separator

Follow these steps to rotate the separator:
1. Remove the separator cover. Refer to 5-6.
2. Observe which side of the blue, triangular cap is facing the track. The
three sides of the cap are marked by a raised dot pattern as shown in
Figure 5-31.
