The ZXMSG 5200 can be applied for the reconstruction of original local call
network, as shown in Figure 22.

During the evolution from PSTN to NGN, it is important to maximize the
protection of operators' early investment, including the construction of
twisted pair resources and the subscriber interface resources at central
offices. Despite of an innovative technology, the NGN has no innovations
in the access mode for subscribers. As a result, it is required to consider a
smooth evolution in planning the transition of telecom network to NGN, for
both the telecom operators and the equipment manufacturers. The PSTN
can be gradually cut over into the new NGN at minimal cost.
Along with the development of technologies and market, the SoftSwitch
will become the switching core of the NGN. While the IP Phone calls
progress in quality, it will be gradually used in the access and switching of
urban calls. The ZXMSG 5200 will also take the place of original end office
switch or smoothly upgraded to the original ONU. This not only protects
the investment of the operators, but also provides more new services on
its SoftSwitch network architecture.
