3.3.3 Checking the LVDT Winding Resistance

W RNING: To prevent ignition of explosive atmospheres,
1. Remove power from the unit.
2. Remove the electronics housing cover and the electronics

4. Using a multimeter, check the primary winding by verifying
5. Check the secondary winding by verifying that pins 2 and 5
6. If the winding resistance is out of range, replace LVDT.
The E3 MODULEVEL transmitter utilizes a 3-section
hierarchy for reporting diagnostic conditions: FAULTS,
WARNINGS, and INFORMATION. This information can
be reviewed at the STATUS screen in the user menu. This
screen captures only current conditions. Historical information
can be viewed at the HISTORY screen in the Factory menu.
F ULT: The highest level in the hierarchy of diagnostics
annunciating a defect or failure in circuitry or software that
precludes reliable measurement. In the presence of a fault,
the current (mA) value is 3.6, 22, or HOLD depending on
the "Fault" loop current value selected. A message is also
displayed on the rotating screen. Further error information
can be obtained by viewing the Status History in the
Factory Menu.
W RNING (MESS GE): The second level in the hierarchy
of Diagnostics annunciating conditions that are not fatal
but may affect measurement. A message will occur on the
main (rotating) screen when a Warning is detected but will
not affect output current. Further error information can be
obtained by viewing the Status History in the Factory Menu.
INFORM TION (MESS GE): The lowest level in the
hierarchy of diagnostic conditions providing operational
factors that are not critical to measurement. Further error
information can be obtained by viewing the Status History
in the Factory Menu.
