When you pull down the Other menu and select Switch Detection, the dialog box
shown in Figure 6-39 appears.

We recommend that, under normal circumstances, you switch between the PCs
attached to the ServLINK by selecting them from the ServLINK's Switch PC list. It
is often possible, however, to switch between PCs by sending a keyboard command
to an attached KVM switch, or by selecting the PC from the KVM switch's own on-
screen menu.
In its default setting, the ServLINK will not be able to detect channel switching
that's done through the KVM switch instead of through the ServLINK. This can be
undesirable in a number of ways. For example, the ServLINK might record events
in its event log as having involved the wrong computer; it might associate changed
video settings with the wrong computers and trash its video drivers; and so on.
However, if the KVM switch is a ServSwitch Multi, the ServLINK can autodetect
direct channel switching if you click the "Enable detection of switching..."
checkbox here. When Switch Detection is enabled, the ServLINK will react to
direct-through-ServSwitch-Multi switching the same way it does for switching
through its own menus, except that it will display the warning notice shown in
Figure 6-40 on your screen.
