3) If the bypass line is not supplying the load, energize the bypass line by:
a) Closing the Bypass Input Breaker (BIB), external to the UPS. This breaker may
be in the Maintenance Bypass Cabinet.
The display touch screen should start up.
b) Pressing the "Start-Up" then "Manual Start" menu buttons (see Figure 35) the
"press Ok to start bypass, or skip into rectifier", if you press OK, then do the step
c, if you press Skip, then go to step 'e'.
c) The "Close Q2" message appears in the multipurpose window. Close the Q2
isolator (see Figure 2).
d) A "Press OK to issue BPSS On Command" message appears. Press OK to continue.
This will energize the load on the UPS internal bypass.
e) The "Q1" message will appear. Close Q1 (see Figure 2)

The "Press OK to Issue Rectifier On Command" message will appear. Press "OK"
This will start the UPS' rectifier. Load is still on internal bypass.
g) The "Press OK to Issue Inverter On Command" message appears. Press "OK". The
inverter will be On and Load is still on internal bypass.
h) When the inverter start-up completed, then you can enabled the MBD (Module
Battery Device), if elec-trip breaker is enabled, when you press OK then the
battery connect into system, if set to manual breaker, after you press OK, the
system will show that "please close the BCB", Load is still on internal bypass.

The "Press OK to Issue Transfer Command" message appears. Press "OK" The
load is now energized from the UPS Inverter.
Risk of equipment damage. If any abnormal situation occurs during this start-up
procedure, open the input circuit breaker and investigate the problem. Call

The battery charge current may increase quickly, but then should slowly decrease. If
the system is recovering from a battery shutdown or an input power failure, the UPS
rectifier will be recharging the battery. Recharge current can be more than 100 Amps.
The maximum allowable recharge current for your unit will depend on the kVA rating
and your factory-set battery recharge current limit.

charging with valve-regulated, lead-acid batteries. Refer to the battery
