HSD Aeronautical Transceivers
Voice calling overview
Placing voice calls from the aircraft to the ground is similar
to placing an international telephone call. Air-to-ground
calls need to include the following codes:
Before making calls, make sure that the HSD transceiver
system is ready. Pick up the handset and listen for dial tone.
Dial tone indicates that the system is ready.
Satellite calls take longer than normal ground
communications to complete—expect a short delay before
your call rings through (approximately 30 seconds).
To complete or 'send' your call, you must end your dialing
sequence by pressing the pound key #. Pressing # signals
the system to send your call.

An international access code (The international
access code for all airborne equipment is 00. For
ground-to-air calls, use the international code of
the location the call is originating from.)
The country code of your call destination
The area code and city code (if applicable) of
your call destination
NOTE:
Always remember to complete your
dialing sequence by pressing #. This
sends your call.
After a call is terminated, wait for the
system to 'clear down' before placing
new calls (approximately 30 seconds).
