Freshwater Flushing Port
Some engines o er a fresh water ushing system. A er linking
up to a fresh water hose at the ush port, water can be pumped
through the engine's raw water cooling system to ush out all salt
and debris that may be le behind. It is supposed to be utilized
a er each trip to ensure a maximum lifespan of your cooling system
components. Check your engine owner's manual regarding this
system's availability and use. Some manufacturers incorporate a
ushing port directly into the engine's coolant hose system while
others require an adapter to be inserted onto the pick up feeds on
the stern drive.
ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Your engine utilizes a great deal of electronic equipment. Some
equipment sends signals between the engine and dash mounted
instruments, while other systems set o alarms, and still others
are used by the engine to generate a spark and ignite the fuel.

To regularly maintain your DC electrical system, inspect the battery
charge before each trip. Test all gauges and control equipment
prior to departure, and replace as necessary. Spark plugs should
