IRON, TOTAL,
4.
Fill a 10-mL cell
to the 10-mL line
with sample.
Note: A 25-mL sample
can be tested by using
25-mL sample cells and
optional reagents.
Note: For proof of
accuracy, use a 1.0 mg/L
iron standard solution
(preparation given in the
Accuracy Check) in
place of the sample.
7.
Fill a second
10-mL cell to the
10-mL line with
sample (the blank).
Cap.
Note: For turbid
samples, treat the blank
with one 0.2-gram
scoop of RoVer Rust
Remover. Swirl to mix.

Add the contents
of one FerroVer Iron
Reagent Powder
Pillow to the sample
cell (the prepared
sample). Cap and
invert to mix.
Note: An orange color
will form if iron is
present.
Note: Accuracy is not
affected by undissolved
powder.
8.
Within 30 minutes
after the 3-minute
period, place the
blank in the cell
holder.
Note: In bright sunlight
it may be necessary to
close the cell
compartment cover.

6.
Wait 3 minutes.
Note: Samples
containing visible rust
should be allowed to
react at least five
minutes.
9.
Press:
ZERO
The display will
count down to 0.
Then the display will
show 0.00 mg/L and
the zero prompt will
turn off.
