Chapter 3 Description of the device
Both the front and the rear panels (depending on the version) can be seen in Figure 7.
The front panel is equipped with LEDs, which display the status of the various interfaces and devices (smart card for
example) the ATLAS 300 has.
The following can be found on the rear panel:7 the power point, the AUX console connection (in DB-9
format) for local configuration and monitoring, and the microswitches. Connections to the LAN (RJ45
format) with the link LED (in yellow). The WAN connectors are in DB-25 format. Finally, depending on the
version, there are a number of different slots allowing expansion cards to be placed inside the device. These
slots come with blind covers which, once removed, allow access to the various connectors that support ex-
pansion cards.

There is a flap on the bottom of the device that provides access to the serial line drivers. Here you can select the op-
eration mode (DTE/DCE) and change from one to the other depending on the standard you are going to use.
