The maximum power of the PSE must be greater than or equal to the total maximum power of all critical
PoE interfaces on the PSE to guarantee these PoE interfaces of power.
To configure the maximum PSE power:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Configure the maximum
power for the PSE.

Configuring the maximum PoE interface power

The maximum PoE interface power is the maximum power that the PoE interface can provide to the
connected PD. If the PD requires more power than the maximum PoE interface power, the PoE interface
does not supply power to the PD.
To configure the maximum PSE power:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Enter PoE interface view.
3.
Configure the maximum
power for the PoE interface.

Configuring PoE power management

PoE power management involves PSE power management and PoE interface power management.

Configuring PSE power management

If the maximum PoE power is lower than the sum of the maximum power that all PSEs require, PSE power
management is applied to decide whether the PSE can enable PoE, whether to supply power to a specific
PSE, and the power-allocation method. If the maximum PoE power of the device is higher than the sum
of the maximum power that all PSEs require, it is unnecessary to enable PSE power management.
If PoE supplies power to PSEs, the following actions occur:
If the PoE power is overloaded and PSE power management is not enabled, no power is supplied
to a new PSE.
If the PoE power is overloaded and a PSE power-management-priority policy is enabled, the PSE
that has a lower priority is first disconnected to guarantee the power supply to a new PSE that has
a higher priority.
In descending order, the power-supply priority levels of a PSE are critical, high, and low.
The guaranteed remaining PoE power is the maximum PoE power minus the power allocated to the
critical PSE, regardless of whether PoE is enabled for the PSE. If this is lower than the maximum power of
the PSE, you cannot set the power priority of the PSE to critical. Otherwise, you can set the power priority
