Inspection
Check the
inspection
hole for signs of coolant leakage.
Replace the water seal if coolant is leaking (page 5-6).
Desassembly
Drain the radiator coolant Ipage 5-3),
Remove
the fo llOwing:

Water
pump
cover bolts and cover
-
Outer
gasket
- Plate
-
Dowel pin
Remove
the following:
-
Inner gasket
-
Impeller
and plain washer
-
Right
crankcase cover (page 9-2)
-
Water
pump
shaft from the right crankcase cover
Check the water pump shaft and gear to be sure they are not
bent or damaged.

Remove
the bearing using the special tools.
