Maintena nce
Adjust as follows:
Minor adjustments are made at the
adjuster
on
the
lever.
Pull the cover back.
Loosen
the
lock nut and
turn the
adjuster.
Tighten the lock nut.
If the adjuster is threaded out near its limit and the correct
free
play cannot be obtained, turn
the
adjust er
all the way in
and
back out one
turn.
Tighten
the lock nut, install the dust cover and make
a
major
adjustment, as
follows.
Major adjustments
are
performed
with
the in line cable
adjuster
behind the
front
number plate.
Loosen the lock nut
and
turn the
adjuster
.
Tighten the lock nut.
If proper
free
play cannot be obtained using both
procedures
or the clutch slips during
the
test ride,
disassemble
and inspect
the clutch (See section 9).
Control Cables
Remove the throttle cable end cover.
Disconnect the throttle cable upper end
from
the throttle grip.
Disconnect
the
clutch cable upper end from
the
clutch
lever.
Thoroughly lubricate the cable pivot
points
with
a
commercial-
ly available cable lubricant.
NOTE
It
is
not necessary to lubricate
the
cables anywhere except
the
pivot
points.
If clutch lever or throttle operation is not smooth,
replace
the cable.
CAUTION
Be sure the throttle
return
s
freely from fully
open
to
full
y
clo sed
,
automatically,
in
all
steering
position.
