Brake
System
If a brake bleeder is not available,
perform
the following
procedure.
Pump
up the syStem pressure with the lever or pedal until
there are no air bubbles in the fluid flowing out of
the
reservoir
small
hole
and
lever/
pedal resistance
is felt.

Operate the
brake
lever
or pedal, then
open
the
bleed valve
,

turn and close
the
valve.
NOTE
Do
not
release the
brake
lever or pedal until the
bleed
valve has been closed
.
21 Release the brake lever or
pedal
slowly and wait several
seconds aher
it
reache
s
the end of
its
travel.
Repeat
step
1
and
2
until bubbles cease to
appear
in
the
lIuid
at the
end
of the
hose.
Tighten
the
bleed valve to the
specified
torque.
Torque:
6
N·m (0
.6
kg -m

Front:
Fill the
master cylinder
reservoir with
DOT
3 or
DOT 4 brake
fluid
form
a sealed container to
the
top
of
the casting ledge.
Reinstall
the
diaphra
gm and master cylinder cover.
Tighten the
screws securely.
Rear:
Fill the reservoir
to
the
upper
level
line with
DOT 4 brake fluid
from a sealed container.
Tighten the
rear reservoir
cap
securely.
A contaminated
brake
disc
or
pad
reduces
stopping
power.
Discard contaminated
pads
and
etean the
con-
taminated
disc
with
a
high quality brake degreasing
agent.
