Rear Wheel/Suspension
If the master link retaining clip was removed, install it on
t
he
drive chain with the closed end o
f
the clip in the direction of
wheel rotation.
Install the re ar axle nut.
Check t he drive chain slack and adjust as required
.
Tighten the rear axle nut to the specified torque.
Torque:
95 N·m !9.5 kg -m

Snug the adjusting bolts against the chain adjusters and
tighten the lock nuts.
Shock
Absorber

UPPER MOUNTING
Removal
Use
only
nitrogen
to
preSSUtil
e the
shock
absorber
.
The
use of an unstable
gas
can cau se a
fire
or ellplosion
resulting in
serious injury.
The rear
shock absorber contains nitrogen gas
under
high pressure
.
Do not
allo
w
fire or
heat
near the shock
absorber.
Before disposal of the shock
absorber,
relea
se
the
nitrogen
by
pressing the val ve core
.
Then remove the
valve from the shock absorber.
Raise the rear w heel off the ground by placing the box or work
stand under the engine.
Remove the
seat
and sub-fra
m
e (Section 2).
Remove the rear shock
absorb er
upper mounting botl.
NOTE
If you plan to disassemble the shock
absorber
. loosen
the spring lock nut and adjusting nut.
