Rear Wheel/Suspension
Fill
the damper with
the recommended
shock oil up
to
the dam-
ping adjuster hole neck
.
Apply
oil
to
the
new
O-rings and install
them to
the damping
adjuster.
Dip the damping adjuster in clean shock
oil.
Slowly
install
the
damping
adjuster,
and
tighten
it to
the
specified torque.
Torque:
20
N·m
f2.0
kg-
m,

t-Ibl
Stake the damping adjuster as shown.
Wipe off all oil from the damper
rod;
oilleh on
the
damper
rod
can
lead to premature failure of the oil seal.
Check
for
oil leaks.
Release the 7_1 psi of air that was in the
reservoir
at
precompression.
Fill the
reservoir
with
142
psi (981 kPa,
10.0
kg/
cm2) of
nitrogen gas.
The
shock absorb er
is
fitted
w
ith
a
gas-fill ed
reservoir.
Use only
nitrogen
gas
t
o pressurize t he
shock
absorber.
The use
of an unst
able gas
can
cause a
fire or
ex
plosion
in
serious
Install
the valve cap.
Install the shock spring with its
narrow
wound end facing
down.
Install
the
spring seat_
Temporarily tighten
the adjusting
nut and lock nut.
