activity code
Allows employees who work special shifts to change activities in the eTIME
application or at the timeclocks. For example, a "Charge Nurse" in a hospital is a
nurse assigned temporary responsibility for his or her floor. The Charge Nurse is
paid differently for taking on this responsibility. You can create activity codes and
set up employees' pay rules to award bonus hours or money for activity shifts,
according to your payroll policies.
American Banking Association (ABA) track
The magnetic stripe track for the ABA. The ANSI/ISO Track 2 is encoded at 75
bits per inch (bpi) density in binary coded decimal (bcd) format.
American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
Organization that coordinates a variety of standards activities in the United States
and serves as a representative to the ISO and the IEC standard bodies.
backlight
The degree of luminosity (brightness) of the timeclock's display. You set this as
part of the local configuration of the timeclock.
barcode reader
A device that reads and interprets bar code symbologies on employee badges. A
bar code reader is shipped as an integral part of the Series 4000 timeclock.
barcode wand
Bar code reader wand that you connect to the Series 4000 timeclock's main board
using an RJ-41 connector.
basic configuration
Settings you specify at the timeclock to establish proper communication with the
host application, time and date, and the appearance of the display.
brightness
The radiance or luminosity of a visible object.
