Chapter 6 Error Messages and Troubleshooting Procedures
Symptom
No LCD backlight The contrast and
Keypad fails to

Probable Cause
brightness of the display

environment.
The keypad's ribbon
cable is improperly
connected to mainboard.
Run the Keypad test.
The battery backup
option is improperly
installed.
Battery backup board
battery-charging circuit
is not functioning
properly.
Battery is defective.
Poor connections.
Corrective Action
Adjust the contrast and brightness of the
display screen. See "Display Setting (basic
configuration)" on page 4-49.
If you can, determine the exact nature of
the problem (for example, is the cable
twisted or cut?), then contact your TLM
Representative.
1. Access Maintenance Mode.
2. Press the More soft key.
3. Press the Keypad Test soft key.
4. Type various keys on the keypad.
5. Note which key or keys fail to work.
6. Contact your TLM Representative.
Reinstall according to specifications.
Replace with functioning battery backup
board. Contact your TLM Representative.
Replace with a functioning battery.
Contact your TLM Representative.
Check connections.
