When Solaris Attempts to Boot (CR 6880963)
When installing Solaris 10 10/09, the system panics if it has a large memory size
(approximately 768 GB or larger)
For example:

Workaround 1
Upgrade to Solaris 10 9/10 or newer.
Workaround 2
1. Download patch 142901–09 or higher.
Note -
to your install image. This allows you to complete the installation without reducing the
memory size. However, you must still reduce the memory size (step 2) and add the patch to
the installed system (step 4) before you can boot it.
2. Reduce the system memory to 512 GB.
We suggest you remove CMODs 3 and 4. You can use other techniques if desired.

3. Install the operating system.
This is not necessary if your system already has an operating system installed.
4. Install patch 142901–09 or higher.
5. Replace the memory.
If you removed the CMODs, for details, refer to Adding, Removing, and Installing a CMOD
(CRU) in Sun Fire X4800 Server Service Manual.
