Using a SMART Board without Projection

In non-projected mode, write on the SMART Board with the pens in the
Pen Tray with their caps off as you would on an ordinary whiteboard.
However, unlike an ordinary whiteboard, whatever you write is
simultaneously displayed on your computer screen in the pen color you
selected. Use the Pen Tray eraser to erase both the dry erase marker on
the Board and the electronic ink on your monitor. When all the Pen Tray
tools are in place, contact with the Board has the effect of erasing
electronic ink with a small eraser.
We also recommend that you use the Notebook Scale to Fit view in non-
projected mode. Scale to Fit accommodates the entire Board workspace
without the need for scrolling, ensuring that whatever you write on the
Board will be displayed on your monitor. Select the Scale to Fit
command from the View menu of Notebook.
NOTE: If you are using SMART Board driver without projection, you
must ensure that the SMART Board has a projector selection in the
Board menu is deactivated (does not have a check mark beside it).
Otherwise, when you write anywhere outside of a Board-aware
application workspace with dry erase ink, you may inadvertently activate
menu commands or other system elements with mouse clicks. If
projected mode has been accidentally clicked during SMART Board
setup, you can change it to non-projected mode by selecting SMART
Board has a projector from the Board menu to toggle the check mark
off.

Accessing SMART Board Commands

The SMART Board driver window is a point of entry for accessing
commands from the Board menu. Among other functions, the Board
commands allow you to select the port for the SMART Board, select
projected or non-projected status, orient the SMART Board, configure
the Pen Tray tools, and access the floating tool palette, the error log and
online Help.
The Board commands – Orient Board, Pen Tray Settings, Aware
Settings, Floating Tools, Error Log, SMART Board has a Projector
and Exit – are also available (in Windows only) with a right mouse click
on the SMART Board icon in the System Tray, as described below.
