9. Partitions / Groups
Partitions/Groups allows for two distinct modes of operation that cannot be intermixed.
This features allows you to customize the SMDC to fit all your installation needs. It is
imperative that this section be fully understood to be of use to you and your customer.
It is recommended that you read this section carefully and if you have any questions to
call our technical support before programming.

Programming
◊ In this mode you assign zones to partitions (see 9.2-Zone Assignment).
◊ You are then allowed to assign one or more keypads to each of the Partitions (see 9.3-
Assignment Keypad).
◊ You must then assign the user to the partition(s) from the installers program.
(see 9.4-User Assignment).
◊ You may have separate auto arming schedules
Operation
• The user is allowed to control more than one partition but the user must perform the
command from the keypad assigned to the partition.
• The user can only view the alarm activity and history that has occurred in his partition
from the keypad(s) assigned to his partition.
• This type of program would normally be used if you had a need for multiple alarm panels
using a single control panel.

Programming
◊ In this mode you must assign zones to Groups (see 9.2-Zone Assignment).
◊ All keypads must be assigned to Group/Partition one (see 9.3-Keypad Assignment).
◊ User PINs are then assigned to groups (see User Program).
◊ You can have only one auto arm time.
Operation
• In this mode the subscriber may arm/disarm any group from any keypad.
• User can view the alarm activity and history for the entire alarm panel from any
installed keypad.
• This type of program would be used when you had a need for a single alarm system
with multiple areas and the user needed the ability to control multiple areas from a
single keypad.
