If Trouble Arises

When Liftgate Cannot be Opened

When Liftgate Cannot

If the vehicle battery is dead or there is a

malfunction in the electrical system and

the liftgate cannot be opened, perform

the following procedure as an emergency

measure to open it:

1. Fold down the rear seatbacks.

2. Remove cover on the interior surface of

the liftgate using a ﬂ athead screwdriver.

3. Using a ﬂ athead screwdriver, open the

inner cover.

4. Using a ﬂ athead screwdriver, turn the

lever to the right to unlock the liftgate.

After performing this emergency measure,

have the vehicle inspected at an expert

repairer, we recommend an Authorised

Mazda Repairer as soon as possible.
