Installation

Problem
ResScan fails to install.
Drivers for SmartMedia Card,
SD Card readers, or ResMed
USB stick are not available
for installation.
ResScan will not start.

Downloading

Problem
The therapy device is
connected to the PC running
ResScan but 'Device' box in
the 'Download Data' dialog is
empty.

Possible Cause
The operating system is not
supported.
Windows Installer is not running. Start the Windows Installer service.
Drivers are not required by the
operating system.
Some configuration files may not
be readable.
Possible Cause
Therapy Device switched off.
Data cable not connected.
Wrong data cable connected.
Inadequate resources.
COM port is excluded in Options. Remove the COM port from Tools > Options >
Driver for ResMed USB Adapter
(if attached to a S8 series or S9
series therapy device) is not
installed.
Driver for ResMed Ventilator (if
attached to a Stellar device) is
not installed.
Solution
Upgrade to one of the supported operating
systems.
From your computer's Control Panel, go to

Administrative Tools > Services.
Find Windows Installer in the list and double

click.
Under Service Status, click Start.

No action required.
Repair or reinstall ResScan.
Solution
Switch unit on, wait a few seconds for it to
perform its self-test.
Connect the data cable
(see "Connecting the therapy device to the
computer" (see page 16)).
Use only the correct cable for your therapy
device.
Shut down other applications.
Download tab
Install the correct driver software and try again.
Note: The driver software can be found in
the ResScan CD or from the Programs menu
(Start > All Programs > ResMed > ResScan >
Drivers > ResMed USB Adapter).
