Configuring SNMP

Once SNMP has been turned on, clicking on the Customize hyperlink will present you
with a screen with configuration options for the SNMP service.
Below is a description of each of the fields on this screen.

This is the community string that
the SNMP agent uses. If a request
from a Network Management
Console is received with this
community string, the information
will be returned to the requesting
console.
The first time you enable SNMP
you will have to fill in this value.

This is the port that the SNMP
Agent will listen to and respond
through. The default is the
standard value for SNMP, but it
can be changed if the NMC has
been customized for a different
port.
Unchecked
If this box is checked, Traps will be
sent to the NMC.
162
This is the port at the IP Address
that trap messages will be sent to.

This is the IP Address that trap
messages will be sent to.
