rights based on another account. This happens when a user attempts to log on to the
VPN using a different account than used when normally logging on to Windows. To avoid
this confusion, always connect to the VPN using the same Windows account.

Configuring the IPSec VPN Software

If you have two Magnia SG20's in different locations, and you wish to connect them, both
need to be configured using the IPSec software configuration. Each server needs to
know the IP address information concerning the remote server in order to complete the
connection.
Because IPSec is based on establishing a configuration between two predefined IP
addresses, both Magnia SG20 Internet connections must be assigned static IPs from
your ISP. If you are not sure if this is the case, contact your ISP for more information.
In order to connect two Magnia SG20s using an IPSec VPN connection, the private
networks of both systems must have different subnet ranges. The default private address
range shipped with the Magnia SG20 starts with 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.255. To
change the private subnet range, go to the Administrative Web interface, select the
Network tab, and click on the Local menu item. Use the Advanced button to change the
private network IP range (for more information, refer to
on page 182.

Enabling the IPSec VPN Feature

The IPSec VPN feature is turned off by default. In order to use this feature, you must first
enable it, and then configure at least one connection to another Magnia SG20 with IPSec
VPN enabled. Both servers must have the IPSec VPN enabled and configured in order to
establish a connection.
1
Go to the Administrative Web site.
2
Select the Network tab, and then click on the VPN menu item.
3
Check the IPSec VPN Access check box, and then click Apply to turn on the VPN
feature.
4
Click the Configure hyperlink to configure the VPN. This will display the list of
existing IPSec configurations you have created. The first time you enter this screen,
the list will be empty.
