The reverse sewing button " R ", when pressed must not move
at all.
Two thicknesses of regular sewing material, when placed
under
the presser foot, must not move at all when the machine is ope-
rated.
In the following are given a few hints to remedy the
inconveniences in case the stitch length regulating knob, or the
regulating shaft are not properly adjusted:
Zero mark in stitch length regulating knob does not coincide with
mark on machine arm (see chapter, " Zero Position of Stitch
Length Regulating Knob ").
The reverse sewing button, when pressed moves into the
machine,
even if the stitch length regulating knob is at zero (see point 1, 2,
3 and 4 of " Timing of the Regulating Shaft").
Two thicknesses of sewing material, when placed under the
pres
ser foot while the stitch length regulating knob is at zero, move
when the balance wheel is turned by hand. See adjustments
under
5, 6 and 7 of chapter, "Timing of Regulating Shaft".
In case the stitch length regulating knob turns too hard, or too
easily, see Chapter " Adjustment of the Friction of the Stitch
Length Regulating Knob ",

- Adjustment of the friction of the stitch length regulating knob.

If the stitch length regulating knob is too loose, the friction
between the two spring washers on the center pin of the stitch
length regulating knob (see Fig. 77), between bushing " 9 " and
the arm of the machine, must be increased.
To make this adjustment, proceed as follows:
Remove the right-hand cover (motor cover) No. 85152.
Loosen the two screws " 8 " and " 10 ".
